VEGGI-TAH-BUL.

or vegetable. That's how I've been feeling like this past 3 days. After my run with Gretchen on Sat, I came home and had a fever. After four layers, I was still cold. Besides the fever, my throat was also hurting me (probably more so because of my addiction >.<) and my nose was runny. Pretty picture, eh? Anyways.

Tomorrow is LENT. In 23 years of existence, neither me or my family was big on Lent. Maybe not big enough that it instilled me the rules and regulations about Lent. Until my freshman or sophmore year of college, I was re-introduced to it again. I didn't really took it seriously, so the whole "giving up" concept didn't really happened. This year, I am determine to at least try... and plus, it will help me with my goals of having a better and healthy life.
So for this lent, I am giving up pork & pop. Not only that, I will try to avoid eating beef as well. In terms of rice, I am going to try to only eat it only 2-3 days or none at all. Same goes for yosi. Continue my workout routine. Avoid as much junk food. WHEW. I can do this. Healthy choices.

Lastly, here's a quote I got from St. James Cathedral about Lent:

May every family and Christian community use well this time of Lent, therefore, in order to cast aside all that distracts the spirit and grow in whatever nourishes the soul, moving it to love of God and neighbor. I am thinking especially of a greater commitment to prayer, lectio divina, recourse to the Sacrament of Reconciliation and active participation in the Eucharist, especially the Holy Sunday Mass. With this interior disposition, let us enter the penitential spirit of Lent. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, Causa nostrae laetitiae, accompany and support us in the effort to free our heart from slavery to sin, making it evermore a “living tabernacle of God.”

Pope Benedict XVI, Lent 2009
